Road Maintenance in Hunter Valley and on the Central Coast

Highways

We use various equipment when carrying out highway works. These items can range from:

Span Cutter

This machine is used to cut the transverse cut on highway constructions. It spans the width of the roadway and can be automatically set to run at a set pace and depth.

Longitudinal Cutter

This is used to cut down the centre of the slab. This machine spans the width of the slab. It is automatically set to run at a set speed and depth.

Core Drilling

This is mainly used down the centre of the road for safety barricades or barriers. These core sizes could range from 14mm – 1200mm in diameter.

Joint Sealing

This is used to seal the slabs. This is to prevent stones and water getting between the slabs. It is also used to stop cracking of the Joint. Sealing is done to prevent the entry of surface water below the concrete slabs, as water infiltration will dramatically shorten the durability of concrete. We have a team of men who are trained to remove the old sealant from the joints and re seal the joints.

Cross Stitching

We have multiple machines designed to run on the surface of the road. These machine drill at a 30 degree angle and use a 16mm diameter bit to a depth of 410mm. We can insert and use epoxy for these bars.

Road Sawing

Expansion cutting of newly laid concrete slabs. This is required for controlled cracks in the slab. This is also used for cutting up of slabs that are damaged and require repairing or replacing. Road Sawing can be used for depths up to 625mm thick.

Starter Bars

These are used to when pouring slabs. These are used to allow movement of the slabs. We have several machines that can do 16mm — 36mm diameter. These machines are designed to do thousands of holes per day if required. These bars are also used to help align the slabs.

Safety Grooving

This is a safety feature that eliminates aquaplaning on the road surface. It can also be used on sharp bend roads that could cause cars to slide into the oncoming traffic.

Grinding

This is used to grind down uneven surface slabs. This machine would be petrol operated Grinding would be to approximately 5mm — 8mm in depth.

Scabbler

This machine would be used to remove deeper depths on the slab upwards of 8mm — 20 mm in depth.

Drum Roll Grinder

This machine has a larger surface area used for grinding. They are mainly used on highways, airport runways. They are mainly used for larger jobs due to the size usually being approximately 1m wide. It also used for grinding down high spots on the slab.
